Week 3 Learning Journal Post

Part 1: Time Management and Study Strategy There was a short period of time when I first started college that I would go to the library to study, but that caused me social anxiety and I began focusing more on those around me than my work, so I just study at home. To improve my notetaking, I am going to try using the split page method and using colors. Additionally, I stated last week that I spent more time that I had allotted for my essay draft, so something new I plan to try is not to be a perfectionist and prioritize better.  Part 2: Learnings from This Week In addition to the other parts of this post, we gathered together with our teams to look into the various courses that are offered within the computer science (CS) curriculum and how they may serve an importance to us as CS majors. Additionally, we reviewed our Individual Learning Plans which indicate what courses we are expected to take and when we will take them.   Part 1: Learning Strategies When it comes to learning strategies, three areas I feel I am good at are creating an adequate study space, establishing study habits, and taking notes. Before I study, I make sure to clean my desk area and have drinks and snacks nearby for easy to reach replenishment. When I am writing a paper, like our industry analysis paper, I get so stuck on the words I am choosing and whether...

Week 1: Learning about CSUMB and the CS Major.

Prior to this course, I only had consideration for the computer science (CS) degree program, and it did not occur to me what else the school had to offer. It was interesting to learn about the campus' origin as an army base turned university and inspiring to hear how the university aims to mold their students into what sounds like successful and contributing individuals.      In addition to learning more about CSUMB and the SCD, we also began to work on our first essay outline and conducted a review of APA style formatting for referencing sources. I took a small number of English courses at my community college, so taking the time to review APA is essential for me to succeed in this course. For my essay, I decided to do an analysis of the cybersecurity industry, which is where I hope to work in after graduating.    ...
