Week 6 Learning Journal
Part 1: Help Your Teammates to Develop Capstone Ideas
My teammate preferred my first capstone idea, which was an VR application which allows retailers to make an immersive store where consumers can purchase items for delivery from online stock but still see and use a true-to-scale 3D model of the product.
Teammate's Capstone Idea 1 - Expanded 'My Fitness Pal'
Like the application 'My Fitness Pal', users put in information of what they had eaten that day to track nutrition values, but in my teammate's version, the app will add suggestions on what users should eat next, where they can get the ingredients for those suggestions, and recipes that show how to prepare those ingredients for a meal.
Teammate's Capstone Idea 2 - Predictive Models for Baseball Pitches
My teammate's second idea is a software that uses recorded data from a baseball pitcher's previous pitches to create predictive models that produce suggestions and probabilities of what pitches would be the most likely to end favorably for the pitcher's team.
Teammate's Capstone Idea 3 - Adjustable Workout Plans
Lastly, my teammates third capstone idea is to make an application that adjusts your current workout plan to maximize the desired results.
Reflection on Our Capstone Discussion:
While I can see the benefits of each capstone idea my teammate shared, I would say I prefer his first one the most because it seems to do a lot more for the average person than the others do. Lastly, I may be bias, but I do like my idea more than his because it consists of much more design-oriented aspects than any of his ideas.
Part 2: Keep Up with Your Learning Journal
This week we learned to create websites for our ILP portfolios and I decided to use Weebly like it was suggested. I wasn't quite sure I would use this platform because the last suggested one was quite bland and I wanted this one to stand out. We also took some time to prepare our resumes and a cover letter for an internship we will be applying for in the future. Expanding on what we learned about conflict resolution and team communication last week, we applied this knowledge to some exercise to develop a stronger understanding. Lastly, we used AI to help us write one of our Stakeholder arguments and we compared them to our arguments written without AI.
